What are the Causes of Bleeding Hemorrhoids?
There are many causes of bleeding hemorrhoids. The causes are sometimes just one or a combination of several factors. Some of these factors are situational while others come with the lifestyle a particular person has. Before we examine the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids, let us first look at the condition itself.
Hemorrhoids affect millions of people worldwide. They have become quite common but many people still view having this ailment as a source of embarrassment. That is why many of these people affected suffer this ailment silently. But there are a lot of people who are more concerned with the pain and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids rather than the actual embarrassing feeling itself. Who would not be concerned? Hemorrhoids are one of the most painful ailments a person can have.
The discomfort, pain, and bleeding are caused by the swelling of the veins in and around the anal cavity. It may appear outside the anal cavity. It will look like a lump or a small sac. The kind of hemorrhoid that appears outside is the one that will exhibit pain and discomfort. The other kind of hemorrhoid that does not appear outside the anus will not exhibit pain and discomfort. Instead, it just bleeds and the blood will be seen on toilet paper or on the stool. There are instances wherein hemorrhoids that grow inside the anal cavity will come out and protrude. They can be easily pushed back and will heal. But if that fails, then surgery is the next option.
Hemorrhoids appear when there is constant straining for the duration of bowel movement. Straining is due to the fact of the presence of hard stool. Changing your diet would be a good idea to avoid hard stools. The intake of fruits and vegetables will surely make your stool softer because of the presence of fiber. Pregnancy is also one of the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids. It is during the delivery of the baby that there is unavoidable straining as well due to the fact that the mother is trying to push the baby out. This is does not always happen to pregnant women though. In fact, this situation rarely does happen. There are several more factors causing this problem. Some examples of which are obesity, weakened rectal valves, excessive caffeine intake, excessive alcohol intake, elevated blood pressure, bodily strain, dietary changes, and more.
Hemorrhoids are not life threatening, especially the mild ones. However, this does not mean that you can relax and take this problem lightly. You need to treat it immediately before it gets worse. So, start looking at the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids and see for yourself which ones you can avoid.
