Finding out about Bleeding from Hemorrhoids and What to do about it
Bleeding from hemorrhoids may seem a bit shocking to hear but it should not really be any cause for alarm. Hemorrhoids are a condition wherein the veins in and around the area of the rectum swell up and get inflamed. Bleeding from hemorrhoids is caused by irritation of these veins and contains blood clots from bad circulation that come out of the ruptured or troubled veins.
Bleeding from hemorrhoids, in a more technical manner, would refer to increased pressure of the blood vessels in the lower rectal area caused by a lot of reasons, which include liver problems, constipation, weight increase and weight loss, and pregnancy.
Symptoms of this condition include itching, skin irritation, and anal pain. More chronic cases can be treated with surgery, which is a fast solution but not an assurance that the person will not incur more problem veins and have hemorrhoids again.
Having hemorrhoids really has to do with lifestyle, form of diet, amount of liquids taken, and lack of exercise. Stress to the lower area of the body is the major reason why the veins accumulate the pressure. There are various medications to treat each case of hemorrhoids, depending on whether it is internal of external. However, without a combination of the aforementioned changes, medication alone will not fully cure the condition.
As straining from too much force during bowel movement or through constipation is a major cause, steps should be taken to eliminate the chances of hard stool. Having fiber-rich foods in your diet, such as papaya, prune juice, and vegetable greens, along with a good amount of water should assure you soft stools.
For those that already have the condition, some relief may be had by taking a warm sitz bath after bowel movement. For cases of internal hemorrhoids, suppositories can be used. For external hemorrhoids, a direct application of creams or ointments will work.
This is not meant to cause any form of alarm, but hemorrhoids have a lot of similar symptoms with other gastro-intestinal problems ‘ among which are rectal and colon cancer. To determine the problem fully, it is best to see your doctor so tests can be administered. Colonoscopy is the most common diagnostic procedure to be done and will rule out other medical diseases if be the case.
Bleeding from hemorrhoids is not a life threatening condition, so after all has been ruled out, curing hemorrhoids can happen in a very short time as long as you adhere to the advice given by this article.
